Mexico's PAN Seeks Court Reversal of INE Sanction Over Political Ad

A magistrate of the Supreme Electoral Tribunal (TEPJF), Reyes Rodríguez Mondragón, will present a draft ruling to the full chamber seeking to overturn the National Electoral Institute's (INE) sanction against the National Action Party (PAN). The INE had ordered the PAN to replace a campaign spot titled “Los traicionaron,” deeming it defamatory toward the ruling Morena party. Rodríguez Mondragón argues the ad constitutes protected political criticism rather than a specific false accusation, and therefore the precautionary measures imposed by the INE are unwarranted.
