Mexico's PAN urged to clarify stance on U.S. agency involvement ahead of Coahuila elections
A Morena legislator called on Mexico's National Action Party (PAN) to state unequivocally whether it supports the presence of U.S. agencies such as the CIA, FBI or DEA on Mexican soil, criticizing the party for suggesting foreign assistance in the fight against drug trafficking. The deputy warned that the PAN's position on foreign interference raises sovereignty concerns.
At the same time, PAN announced that it will run alone in the upcoming local elections in Coahuila on June 7, aiming to secure a pluralistic representation in the state congress. Party leaders emphasized priorities of defending the nation, supporting families and protecting individual freedoms, and pledged to open candidacies to citizens outside the traditional political class.
Both remarks reflect the party's strategic positioning as it confronts accusations of alignment with U.S. security interests while seeking electoral gains in northern Mexico.
