Claudia Sheinbaum Announces 190 B MXN Investment for Veracruz

President Claudia Sheinbaum announced a historic investment of 190 billion Mexican pesos for the state of Veracruz, targeting the period to 2030. The funding will support the recovery and reactivation of the petrochemical and fertilizer sectors, alongside road, water and health infrastructure projects managed through IMSS Bienestar, and adds roughly 79 billion pesos for existing welfare programmes.

A mixed public‑private plan of 93 billion pesos will finance the petrochemical revival, aiming to raise annual output to about 849,000 tonnes of petrochemicals and more than 4 million tonnes of fertilizers. Key projects include the Etano‑Etileno complex (30 bn MXN, creating over 6,000 direct jobs), Aromatics (11 bn MXN, 2,000 direct jobs), Ammonia (13 bn MXN, 1,800 direct jobs), Fertinal‑ProAgro (13.7 bn MXN, 7,900 direct jobs) and the Escolín urea plant (25.3 bn MXN, 3,900 direct jobs).
