Mexico's President Sheinbaum rolls out peace and development programs in Michoacán and Sinaloa

Governor Alfredo Ramírez Bedolla announced the “Plan Michoacán for Peace and Justice,” a state‑federal initiative coordinated with President Claudia Sheinbaum. The plan allocates 42.7 billion pesos for highway upgrades, including the Pátzcuaro‑Uruapan, Zitácuaro‑Maravatío and Nueva Italia‑Lázaro Cárdenas corridors, and funds a four‑lane expansion of the Siglo XXI highway and the Agroexportation highway linking Uruapan and Zamora. A joint investment of 2.19 billion pesos will expand the Morebús mass‑transit system to 38 stations serving 76,000 daily riders. New campuses of the Universidad Nacional Rosario Castellanos will open in Zacapu, Zitácuaro, Múgica and Uruapan, while 127 women’s protection centers are being extended to 105 municipalities.

In Culiacán, the federal‑municipal “Ferias de la Paz” program launched under Sheinbaum’s direction. Mayor Ana Miriam Ramos and Governor Yeraldine Bonilla inaugurated weekly peace fairs that bring together agencies such as the National Guard, Navy, IMSS, and local women’s secretariat. The fairs provide services, house visits, and youth activities, aiming to address the root causes of violence across the state's 20 municipalities.
