Mexico's PRI launches digital affiliation drive and cleans membership rolls

The Institutional Revolutionary Party (PRI) announced a relaunch of its National Affiliation Programme in Chihuahua, presented by National Coordinator of Affiliation José Luis Villalobos García. The event is part of a national evaluation tour that has visited 18 states and will cover all 32 Mexican states.

The party is conducting a preventive clean‑up of its membership register to comply with new criteria from the National Electoral Institute (INE) and avoid fines exceeding 110,000 pesos per irregular file. A new digital platform authorized by the INE will generate electronic records with photographs and identity verification.

In Chihuahua, about 2,000 member records have already been recovered, and validation continues across the state's 3,311 electoral sections. The PRI reported duplicate registrations, some allegedly created by rival party Morena without citizen consent, including entries for deceased individuals. These cases have been reported to the electoral authority.

Party leaders said the goal is to build a reliable, real membership base and strengthen the PRI’s territorial presence in all 73,264 electoral sections ahead of the 2027 electoral cycle.
