Mexico's Profeco flags labeling issues in wet cat food brands

Mexico's consumer protection agency, Profeco, tested 54 wet cat food products for adult, growing and special‑need cats. The agency found labeling irregularities in five brands. Gosbi Fresko Adult (tuna with salmon) showed higher moisture than declared. Grand Pet Carne Fresca contained less protein and higher ash than permitted. Pet Kisha Pavo and Grand Pet Natural Gourmet both fell short of the protein levels stated on their labels, with the latter also exceeding declared moisture. Purina One Visible Nutrition was noted for using the commercial claim “Super Nutrientes” without verification.

Profeco confirmed that all products met the net‑weight declarations and complied with applicable animal‑food regulations. It advised pet owners to consult veterinarians before changing diets, purchase products from formal retailers, and transition gradually to avoid digestive issues.
