Mexico's Profeco warns of ticket fraud for World Cup 2026 matches
Mexico's consumer protection agency, Profeco, issued a warning about fraudulent ticket sales for the 2026 FIFA World Cup. The agency highlighted scams involving unofficial websites, social‑media pages and email offers that charge up to three times the official price or, conversely, list tickets at unrealistically low prices that may be counterfeit.
Profeco advises fans to purchase tickets only through official channels, use secure payment methods, avoid sharing bank details on suspicious sites, and keep records of all transactions. The alert specifically mentions the Mexico vs England group‑stage match, urging buyers to verify ticket validity, check terms and conditions, and activate bank alerts to detect unauthorized charges.
