Mexico's Puebla State Boosts Agricultural Mechanisation with $36 M Investment

Governor Alejandro Armenta Mier inaugurated a major agricultural support program in the Atlixco micro‑region of Puebla, allocating more than 36 million pesos to mechanisation, precision technology and strategic inputs. The initiative, part of the “Seguridad para el Campo Poblano” strategy, delivered benefits to 1,316 producers through 8,730 actions, supplying long‑release fertilisers, sorghum seed, avocado and flower micorrhizas and contingency assistance for climate‑affected farms.

The state government earmarked 1.6 billion pesos for the sector in the previous year and plans 1.7 billion pesos for 2026, expanding available agricultural equipment from 700 to 1,800 units. Targets include raising cultivated land from 50,000 to 200,000 hectares this year and providing free access to tractors, drones, AI‑powered rovers and other precision tools. Complementary actions involved reforesting Cerro Quetzalcóatl, clearing irrigation canals for 300 floriculturists and training over 1,500 women in entrepreneurship workshops.
