Mexico's recent rains boost water reservoirs and cattle pastures

Recent rainfall across Mexico has improved conditions for livestock in Tamaulipas. José Guerrero Gamboa, president of the Regional Livestock Union of Tamaulipas, said the accumulated rain has provided ample pasture, a sharp contrast to previous drought years. Northern municipalities such as González and El Mante report healthy grass, while coastal areas like Soto la Marina and Aldama have seen less precipitation but still enough forage for cattle.

The same rains have helped refill the Cutzamala water system, which supplies roughly 26 % of the potable water for Mexico City and the State of Mexico. CONAGUA reports the system now stores 573 million m³ of water, 73.33 % of its capacity. The Valle de Bravo reservoir is at 80.33 % capacity, Villa Victoria at 67.63 % and El Bosque at 64.92 %. Authorities expect continued recovery if the rainy pattern persists.
