Mexico's Rita Cetina Scholarship Card Distribution Faces Common Errors

The Banco del Bienestar is continuing the distribution of cards for the Rita Cetina scholarship, which provides 2,500 pesos per primary‑school student to help cover school supplies and uniforms. Cards are being handed out in a staged schedule from 18 May to 31 July 2026, with each school assigned a specific date, location and time.

Authorities warn that several mistakes can prevent families from receiving the card on the appointed day. Only the parent or guardian who registered the student may collect the card; any other person will be turned away. Required documents include the guardian’s official ID, birth certificate, CURP, a recent proof of address (no older than six months), and the student’s birth certificate and CURP. Missing or outdated documents, arriving on the wrong date, or attempting to pay a fee (which does not exist) can all cause delays. Fraudulent messages asking for money are also reported, and officials stress that the program never charges for the card.

If a registered guardian cannot attend the scheduled appointment, they must visit a coordination office to arrange a new date. A new registration round for all Bienestar scholarship programs, including Rita Cetina, will open in September 2026, ensuring that families who missed the initial window can still receive support.
