Mexico's Semarnat says no impact record for Punta San Julián development

Semarnat delegate César Uriel Romero Herrera stated that the agency has no record of an environmental impact filing for a proposed 51‑hectare real‑estate project in Punta San Julián, Carmen municipality, Campeche. The land, marketed as “San Nicolasito,” is advertised for tourism and residential use at a price of 65 million pesos, but the ministry confirmed it has received no permit or impact‑assessment request.

Separately, Semarnat, together with the Agencia de Transformación Digital y Telecomunicaciones (ATDT), announced a simplification of environmental and forest‑impact authorizations. The new rules reduce the number of procedural steps from ten to seven and cut required documents from twelve to four. Published in the official gazette on 25 July 2025 and 1 April 2026, the reforms affect impact statements, exemption requests, preventive reports, title changes, authorisation renunciations, and project modifications.
