Mexico's Sheinbaum says 800 million pesos earmarked for Oaxaca schools, not CNTE

President Claudia Sheinbaum rejected claims that MX$800 million allocated for Oaxaca would go to the teachers' union CNTE. She stated the money is intended to strengthen public education in the state, adding, “Es falso. Esos 800 millones no tienen absolutamente nada que ver con la CNTE, nada. Va para mejorar la educación de las niñas y los niños en Oaxaca.”

Sheinbaum explained that the funds will be distributed directly to schools to create teaching posts, improve infrastructure and provide equipment, bypassing any union intermediaries. The allocation is part of her administration’s broader effort to support Oaxaca’s educational needs, including uniform distribution and the universal Rita Cetina scholarship.
