Mexico's SICT pushes forward Veracruz port road project and reinstates quality commission

The Secretariat of Infrastructure, Communications and Transport (SICT) in Veracruz reinstated a mixed commission with the Mexican Construction Industry Chamber (CMIC) to improve technical coordination and quality control of state infrastructure projects. The renewed body will oversee laboratory testing of concrete, asphalt, soil and reinforcement steel to ensure compliance with regulations and boost local construction capacity.

Separately, SICT completed the installation of the final 264‑beam segment of the two‑kilometre access road distributor to the Port of Veracruz, bringing the structure to 80% physical progress. With a total investment of 902 million pesos and the creation of 2,355 jobs, the road is slated for delivery in July. It will serve more than 780 000 residents of Veracruz, Boca del Río, Medellín de Bravo and Jamapa, cut travel times by up to 25 minutes and strengthen regional logistics by linking the Veracruz–Monterrey and Acapulco–Veracruz corridors.
