Mexico's state health secretaries boost coordination with IMSS‑Bienestar

The health secretary of Chiapas, Luis Avendaño, met with the director of IMSS‑Bienestar, Dr. Alejandro Svarch Pérez, to reinforce joint efforts between state and federal institutions. The discussion focused on improving medical service quality, coverage and efficiency for vulnerable populations in Chiapas.

In Guerrero, Health Secretary Alondra García Carbajal chaired the second ordinary session of the State Committee on Women’s Cancer, aiming to shorten waiting times for oncology treatment. Participants, including IMSS‑Bienestar officials and other health agencies, reviewed strategies for faster cancer screening, better use of shared information systems, and coordinated referrals to ensure timely diagnoses and care for women.

Both meetings underscore Mexico’s broader push to strengthen health system coordination, expand coverage, and enhance service delivery at the state level.
