Mexico's State of Mexico completes 1.2 million sqm of road repavement

More than a year after launching the Integral Plan for the Eastern State of Mexico, the federal government and the state administration have repaved 1,242,506 square metres of streets and avenues – roughly 100 kilometres – across ten municipalities. The program, funded with 213 million pesos, assigned a dedicated paving crew to each municipality, with Valle de Chalco reporting 100 % completion and other towns ranging from 82 % in Ecatepec to 24 % in Tlalnepantla.

The works also include routine maintenance of 488 kilometres of federal toll‑free roads, the completion of 25 kilometres of periodic conservation and ongoing work on another 67 kilometres. The repavement effort is part of a broader regional scheme of 121 programmes aimed at improving mobility, security, housing, health, education, water and public services for the roughly ten‑million‑person population of the area.
