Mexico's Unifrut Awaits Anti‑Dumping Decision on US Apple Imports

Francisco Javier Terán, president of the Union Agrícola Regional de Fruticultores del Estado de Chihuahua (Unifrut), said the organization expects a preliminary anti‑dumping resolution by the end of the year. The ruling could impose a compensatory quota or lead to a settlement to protect Mexican apple producers.

Unifrut filed its request on 29 August 2025, alleging that United States apples are being sold in Mexico at prices below production cost, harming domestic growers. The Mexican Secretariat of Economy opened the investigation in January, covering imports from 1 April 2024 to 31 March 2025 and a damage‑assessment period from 1 April 2022 to 31 March 2025. Terán noted, “Ya va avanzada, esperamos tener resultados preliminares antes de que acabe el año,” and stressed the need for fair pricing for Mexican apples.
