Mexico's World Cup squad trains at CAR ahead of Czech Republic clash

Mexico's national team held a morning training session at the Centro de Alto Rendimiento (CAR) in Mexico City as they prepare for their group‑stage match against the Czech Republic at the 2026 FIFA World Cup. Coach Javier Aguirre oversaw the drills, focusing especially on the goalkeepers – Raúl Rangel, Guillermo Ochoa and Carlos Acevedo – while the rest of the squad practiced possession games.

After securing the top spot in Group A with a win over South Korea, the team used the session to fine‑tune tactics and rotate players. For the first time, a 27th player joined the training: 19‑year‑old Iker Jiménez from Club Universidad Nacional, who participated in the rondo alongside established internationals such as Johan Vásquez and Jesús Gallardo. The coaching staff also gave the squad an afternoon off before reconvening for dinner later in the day.
