Mexico's Yaqui and Guarijío Justice Plans Receive Over 18 Billion Pesos Investment

Senator Lorenia Valles, speaking during a work tour in Sonora, said the federal government’s Plan de Justicia for the Yaqui people has received more than 18 billion pesos since 2021. The funding supports land restitution, irrigation upgrades, water‑access projects, the construction of an IMSS‑Bienestar hospital and a University for the Yaqui community, as well as other social‑infrastructure works.

Valles also highlighted the Guarijío Justice Plan in Álamos, Sonora, noting a cumulative investment of about 600 million pesos. The program adds new federal welfare benefits, such as the “Pensión Mujeres Bienestar” and “Salud Casa por Casa,” and has completed artisan road projects that connect remote Guarijío settlements to health, education and market services. Both plans are presented as fulfilling promises of the Fourth Transformation to address historic debts to indigenous peoples.
