Mezzani biomethane plant proposal sparks local debate
The proposed construction of a biomethane plant in Mezzani has sparked significant local debate regarding its impact on the territory. Gianni Soncini, head of the Lega group in the Sorbolo Mezzani municipal council, and deputy Laura Cavandoli have raised concerns about the specific location of the project.
Critics highlight that the 60,000 square meter site faces hydraulic issues and existing traffic congestion, particularly on narrow roads like via Burla. While the Lega party states it is not ideologically opposed to biomethane, they are demanding a comprehensive evaluation of the site's suitability, citing risks to local infrastructure, residential proximity, and existing productive activities.
