Mezzo channel to celebrate John Coltrane centenary

In September, the Mezzo channel on Tivùsat will present a special programming lineup to celebrate the centenary of jazz legend John Coltrane. The tribute will feature a mix of rare archival footage and performances by prominent contemporary musicians.

The programming includes two historic 1965 performances featuring Coltrane alongside McCoy Tyner, Jimmy Garrison, and Elvin Jones at jazz festivals in Juan-les-Pins, France, and Comblain-la-Tour, Belgium. The special aims to honor Coltrane’s revolutionary impact on jazz and his spiritual and artistic legacy, highlighted by iconic albums such as ‘Blue Train’, ‘Giant Steps’, and ‘A Love Supreme’.
