MFF TAURON Nowe Horyzonty showcases Indian debut film “Songs of Forgotten Trees” in Wrocław

The 26th edition of the MFF TAURON Nowe Horyzonty film festival is underway in Wrocław, Poland. Among the selections in the “Discoveries” section is the Indian debut feature Songs of Forgotten Trees, directed by Anuparna Roy.

Roy’s film follows two young women navigating life in the crowded, patriarchal city of Mumbai, exploring themes of female solidarity, social inequality and the search for personal freedom. The director, who previously won the Venice Orizzonti award for best director, presents the work as a personal project funded through her own means while working in corporate jobs in Mumbai. The festival highlights the film as part of its mission to bring new voices and original stories to an international audience.
