MG and BYD unveil new high-range electric vehicles

Major automotive manufacturers have unveiled new vehicle models at the 2026 Chengdu Motor Show, highlighting advancements in electric and hybrid technology.

MG, a subsidiary of SAIC, launched the MG 07, a mid-size fastback available in seven trims. The lineup includes five pure electric models and two plug-in hybrids (PHEV). The PHEV version features a 1.5-liter engine paired with an electric motor, claiming a combined driving range of up to 1,745 km under CLTC standards. The pure electric variants offer ranges between 610 km and 845 km, with high-end versions utilizing an 800V high-voltage system.

BYD introduced the DA HAN, a luxury electric sedan designed with its 'Dragon Face' philosophy. The vehicle offers a driving range of up to 1,008 km (CLTC) for the rear-wheel-drive version equipped with a 102.3 kWh battery. The top-tier all-wheel-drive model delivers 764 horsepower with a range of 880 km. The DA HAN features advanced technologies including a DiSus-A dual-chamber air suspension system, rear-wheel steering, and LiDAR-based intelligent driving assistance.
