MG unveils premium IM5 sedan and IM6 SUV for European market

British‑Chinese automaker MG, owned by SAIC, introduced two new premium electric models for Europe: the IM5 business sedan and the IM6 sport‑utility vehicle. Both share an 800‑volt architecture, a 100 kWh battery and fast‑charging capability of up to 396 kW, allowing a charge from 10 % to 80 % in 17 minutes on a 350 kW charger. The IM5 offers rear‑wheel drive with 407 hp (300 kW) and a WLTP range of up to 710 km, while the IM6 adds all‑wheel drive, 751 hp (553 kW) and a range of about 625 km.

Pricing starts at roughly €54,000 for the IM5 and €57,000 for the IM6. MG will sell the models through its existing European dealer network rather than opening dedicated showrooms, aiming to compete directly with Tesla and other Chinese EV makers such as Xpeng, Xiaomi and Zeekr. Technical highlights include four‑wheel steering, adaptive pneumatic front suspension, and a dual‑screen digital cockpit spanning 26.3 inches.
