MG makes Ferrol its European logistics hub after 700 EVs arrive
MG, the Spanish market brand of Chinese automaker SAIC Motor, landed 700 electrified vehicles aboard the ship Anji Forever at the Port of Ferrol. The arrival marks the start of MG’s European logistics operations in Galicia, shifting the main import point from Barcelona to Ferrol.
The move is part of SAIC’s €200 million investment plan for the region, which includes building a production plant in Galicia capable of assembling up to 120,000 vehicles a year by the end of 2028. The plant will serve both the Spanish market and other European countries, reducing transport time and cost for models built in China. Regional president Alfonso Rueda highlighted Galicia’s technical, logistical and industrial capacity during the ceremony. MG now holds the largest market share among Chinese‑origin car brands in Spain, at 3.9% in the first half of the year.
