MG Motor Philippines launches S5 EV compact SUV

MG Motor Philippines has officially launched the MG S5 EV, an all-electric compact SUV, marking the start of its Multiply Greatness Tour 2026. The nationwide roadshow, which debuted at the TriNoma Activity Center on August 27, is scheduled to visit locations including Pampanga, Laguna, and Cebu to showcase the brand’s electrified lineup.

The MG S5 EV features a rear-wheel-drive layout powered by a Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor producing 170ps and 250Nm of torque. It is equipped with a 49 kWh Lithium Iron Phosphate battery that supports up to 120kW DC fast charging, allowing a charge from 10% to 90% in approximately 24 minutes under suitable conditions. The vehicle offers a claimed NEDC range of 415 kilometers.

Driving features include five selectable modes—Normal, Sport, Comfort, Snow, and Custom—alongside regenerative braking settings and One-Pedal Drive. The SUV also includes Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) capability, enabling it to supply power to compatible external devices.
