MG Motor to Build First European Mainland Plant in Galicia, Spain
MG Motor, operating under the SAIC Group, announced a new manufacturing facility in Galicia, Spain. The plant represents an investment of about €200 million and is slated to begin production in 2028. It will create more than 2,000 jobs across Europe and have an annual capacity of up to 120,000 vehicles.
The site will combine vehicle research and development, advanced manufacturing, component supply and intelligent logistics under the company’s “In Europe, For Europe” strategy. MG aims to shorten supply lines, collaborate with European technology partners and research institutes, and support the EU’s 2035 zero‑emissions target. The factory will also enable MG to mitigate tariffs on Chinese‑made cars and to showcase its SolidCore semi‑solid‑state battery technology alongside hybrid and plug‑in hybrid models.
