MG previews MG2 concept and rolls out cheap MG4 EV Urban in Australia

MG, the SAIC‑owned brand, will reveal a new MG2 concept at the Goodwood Festival of Speed on July 9. The teaser images show a small hatch with a snub nose, oval LED lamps and a shortened version of the older Modular Scalable Platform. The MG2 is positioned as a value‑for‑money model slated for a 2027 launch, with a price expected to be near the BYD Atto 1’s AU$23,990.

In Australia, MG introduced the MG4 Urban EV, priced from AU$31,990 drive‑away for the 43 kWh version and AU$34,990 for the 54 kWh version. Purchases delivered by 30 June 2026 receive a $500 accessories bonus. The MG4 Urban offers LFP batteries, WLTP ranges of about 350 km (43 kWh) and 435 km (54 kWh), vehicle‑to‑load capability, Apple CarPlay/Android Auto and a 10‑year/250,000 km warranty, making it the cheapest new electric car on the Australian market.
