MGAHV Wardha to resume Film and Women Studies after protests
Mahatma Gandhi Antarrashtriya Hindi Vishwavidyalaya (MGAHV) in Wardha has agreed to restart its Women Studies and Film Studies programmes at its main campus starting from the 2027-28 academic session. This decision follows a three-month student protest against the 2022 transfer of these courses to a regional centre in Prayagraj.
The university's Executive Council, chaired by Vice-Chancellor Prof. Kumud Sharma, also announced that regular PhD admissions will resume. Additionally, the council approved the continuation of certificate and diploma programmes in alignment with the National Education Policy 2020.
Separately, CJP convenor Dipke has raised allegations regarding the university's administration, claiming Vice-Chancellor Sharma has favored the ABVP and acted against students opposing RSS ideology. Dipke alleged that over 50 students, including those from Dalit and Adivasi communities, have faced police action following protests.
