Kit Harington stars in new ‘A Tale of Two Cities’ series adaptation

MGM+ and the BBC have released the first trailer for a new four-part series adaptation of Charles Dickens’ classic novel, ‘A Tale of Two Cities’. The production stars Kit Harington as Sydney Carton, François Civil as Charles Darnay, and Mirren Mack as Lucie Manette.

Set in 1782 amidst the rising tensions of the French Revolution, the story follows Lucie Manette, who discovers her father may still be alive in Paris. The plot centers on a complex love triangle involving Lucie, the idealistic French emigré Darnay, and the brilliant but erratic lawyer Carton. The series aims to explore the personal relationships and emotional stakes of the characters against the backdrop of social upheaval in London and Paris.

The series is written by Daniel West and directed by Richard Clark. It is scheduled to premiere on MGM+ on September 6, with weekly episode releases. The production is a co-production involving Federation Stories, Federation Studio France, and Thriker Films.
