MGM+ releases trailer for ‘The Westies’ series starring J.K. Simmons

MGM+ released the official trailer for the upcoming eight‑part crime drama "The Westies." The series, created by Chris Brancato and Michael Panes, dramatizes the real Irish gang that operated in Hell’s Kitchen, New York, in the early 1980s. Its plot centers on the gang’s clash over the construction of the Jacob Javits Convention Center, internal generational tensions, and a growing FBI investigation.

The series premieres on July 12, 2024 with a double‑episode debut and will air weekly thereafter on MGM+. Oscar‑winner J.K. Simmons plays gang boss Eamon Sweeney; the ensemble also includes Titus Welliver, Tom Brittney, Stanley Morgan, Sarah Bolger, Jessica Frances Dukes and Hamish Allan‑Headley as John Gotti. In addition to the United States, the show will be available in Germany, the United Kingdom, Italy, Spain and the Netherlands.
