MH370 search: New hydroacoustic data suggests potential error in search area

New scientific analysis of hydroacoustic data has raised questions regarding the search area for Malaysia Airlines flight MH370, which disappeared on March 8, 2014, with 239 people on board.

Researchers analyzing data from the Comprehensive Nuclear-Test-Ban Treaty Organization (CTBTO) sensor network found no convincing signals near the ‘Seventh Arc,’ the primary focus of search efforts for over a decade. Instead, they identified a low-frequency signal originating in the northwest Indian Ocean near the Chagos-Laccadive Ridge. This location is significantly distant from the official search zones used in previous major expeditions, including the recent unsuccessful survey by Ocean Infinity.
