Mühendis Tek-Sen Enerji demands reforms for public technical staff

The Mühendis Tek-Sen Enerji Union has announced a 40-point list of demands aimed at reforming the Public Personnel System in Turkey. The union is calling for structural changes to strengthen the economic and union rights of public employees, specifically focusing on engineers, architects, and technical staff.

Key demands include the establishment of a dedicated Technical Staff Commission within the Public Personnel Consultative Board (KPDK) to ensure technical issues are not overlooked. The union is also advocating for the enactment of a specific Engineering and Architecture Profession Law to provide a legal framework for the profession.

Financial and professional protections requested include the creation of a regular ‘Technical Work Allowance,’ professional liability insurance to cover occupational risks, and improvements to additional indicators and seniority pay to ensure fair retirement benefits. Additionally, the union seeks compensation that is proportionate to the legal responsibilities held by personnel involved in tenders, projects, and technical specifications.
