MHP İzmir official denies insults toward Muhsin Yazıcıoğlu and Sivas residents
Veysel Şahin, the İzmir Provincial Chairman of the Nationalist Movement Party (MHP), has issued a written statement denying allegations that he insulted the late Great Unity Party (BBP) leader Muhsin Yazıcıoğlu and residents of Sivas.
Şahin characterized the accusations as an “unfounded and despicable slander campaign.” He explained that the controversy stems from an incident approximately two months ago when an individual visited the MHP İzmir Provincial Presidency. According to Şahin, the individual made an unethical and immoral request regarding a commercial matter, which led Şahin to ask him to leave the office immediately.
Şahin claims that after he rejected the request, the individual—who identified himself as being from Sivas and a relative of Yazıcıoğlu—initiated a smear campaign. Şahin asserted that his 40-year political career has been defined by a clear stance against improper financial interests and that the recent social media allegations are a distorted version of that encounter.
