Turkey's MHP promotes 'Terror-free Turkey' as state policy

Members of the Nationalist Movement Party (MHP) have characterized the 'Terror-free Turkey' initiative as a central state policy. MHP officials, including Yaşar Yıldırım and Musa Küçük, stated that the process, initiated by MHP leader Devlet Bahçeli, has transitioned from a political movement into a comprehensive state project aimed at minimizing internal risks.

During recent party congresses, MHP representatives highlighted that a framework law related to this process received 467 votes in the Grand National Assembly of Turkey (TBMM). They noted that while 44 votes came from the MHP, the remaining 423 votes represented a broad consensus from other sources, which they described as an unprecedented level of support in the assembly's history.

However, the initiative has faced criticism. İYİ Party official Muhammet Mısırlıoğlu expressed strong opposition to reports suggesting that Abdullah Öcalan might lead a 'Disarmament and Politicization Board' to coordinate returns. Mısırlıoğlu argued that granting any political role or legitimacy to the PKK leader is unacceptable to the Turkish nation.
