Mi Amigo el Sol selected for BFI London Film Festival

The Mexican animated feature film ‘Mi Amigo el Sol’, directed by Alejandra Pérez González, has been selected for the 70th BFI London Film Festival, scheduled for October 7–18, 2026.

A co-production between Mexico and Brazil involving Fotosíntesis Media and Tortuga Studios, the film integrates Mexica mythology, muralism, and themes of family identity. The narrative focuses on the relationship between a father, Diego, and his daughter, Xóchitl.

Director Pérez González, a co-founder of the organization Mujeres en el Mundo de la Animación (MUMA), becomes one of the first women in Mexico to direct an animated feature film, marking a significant milestone for the national animation industry.
