Mi Teleférico denies receiving state subsidies for operations

Mi Teleférico, the state-owned cable car company in La Paz, has clarified that it operates using its own generated resources and does not receive subsidies from the National General Treasury or the Ministry of Economy.

Executive Manager Christian Eduardo Rojas addressed recent questioning regarding the system's financing, noting that the Bs 5,500 million listed as company equity represents the value of infrastructure and public assets rather than available cash or an annual budget. The company reported a surplus of approximately Bs 10 million in its last management period.

Revenue is generated through ticket sales, commercial space rentals, advertising, services, and parking. The company also stated that it uses its own income to cover preferential rates for students, senior citizens, and people with disabilities, a benefit valued at approximately Bs 220 million. These clarifications follow comments from the Vice Governor of Santa Cruz, Paola Aguirre, regarding the system's budget.
