MIA audiovisual market concludes in Rome with increased participation

The 12th edition of MIA | Mercato Internazionale Audiovisivo concluded in Rome on October 23, hosting more than 2,800 industry professionals from 64 countries. The event saw a 26% increase in project submissions compared to 2025, with 630 submissions received from 83 countries. From these, 104 projects from 43 countries were selected for the Co-Production & Gap Financing Market and Work-in-Progress programmes.

Organized by ANICA and APA, the market featured a revamped format that utilized Rome’s Via Veneto and Piazza Barberini as an audiovisual industry district. The programme included over 40 conferences and meetings with 85 international speakers. A new initiative, the European Investment Hub, was introduced to facilitate dialogue regarding financial instruments supporting the audiovisual industry.

The MIA Development Awards distributed €25,000 across five projects. The documentary prize was awarded to the Swedish project ‘Loving Ika’, directed by Emilio Di Stefano and Fabian Sigurd, which explores themes of artificial intelligence and intimacy. A special mention was given to ‘Bleaching Nemo’, a production involving Italy, the United Kingdom, and the United States.
