Mia Dio crowned Miss Universe Cuba 2026

Mia Dio has been crowned Miss Universe Cuba 2026 following a gala held at the Dennis C. Moss Cultural Arts Center in Cutler Bay, Florida. The 24-year-old representative of Isla de la Juventud was selected from 19 contestants and will represent Cuba at the Miss Universe 2026 pageant in San Juan, Puerto Rico.

The victory has sparked debate within the pageant community. Alexander Otaola, a member of the judging panel, defended the decision on social media, stating that a queen must embody elegance and tradition rather than relying solely on a fan club or prepared speeches. He described Mia Dio as a “spokesperson for freedom and rights.”

In contrast, contestant Daniela Reyes, representing Pinar del Río, shared an enigmatic message following her loss. While she did not name specific individuals or allege fraud, Reyes claimed that certain people “did everything possible to prevent me from reaching my goal.” She described the experience as a period of personal growth despite the outcome.
