Mia Maxwell wins women's 100m at World Athletics U20 Championships

At the 2026 World Athletics U20 Championships in Eugene, Oregon, Mia Maxwell secured victory in the women's 100m final with a time of 11.14 seconds. Jamaica's Shanoya Douglas took the silver medal in 11.17 seconds, while Italy's Kelly Doualla Edimo earned bronze in 11.27 seconds.

Saint Lucian sprinter Jady Emmanuel made history by becoming the first junior athlete from Saint Lucia to compete in a World Athletics track final. Competing as one of the youngest finalists, the 17-year-old finished 8th in the final with a time of 11.47 seconds. Her performance follows strong preliminary rounds where she clocked 11.28 seconds to win her opening heat.

Emmanuel's achievement places her among an elite group of Saint Lucian athletes who have reached global finals, joining the likes of Julien Alfred and Levern Spencer.
