Quarterbacks Mensah and Lopez to face off in ACC matchup

Quarterbacks Darian Mensah of the fifth-ranked Miami Hurricanes and Gio Lopez of Wake Forest are set to face each other this Friday. Both players entered their current programs as transfers within the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC).

Mensah, formerly of Duke, has led a highly productive Miami offense that currently leads the nation in total offense with 702.5 yards per game. Through two games, Mensah has recorded eight touchdown passes with zero interceptions and a 91.1% completion rate. He has developed a strong connection with receiver Malachi Toney.

Lopez, who previously played for North Carolina, has revitalized his career at Wake Forest under coordinator Rob Ezell. Lopez ranks ninth nationally in total offense, averaging 336.0 yards per game, and has proven to be a dual-threat capability by contributing significant rushing yards and scores.
