Miami Beach approves 2027 Pride funding to bypass state law

Miami Beach commissioners have approved a measure to fund 2027 Pride events and provide financial support to the LGBTQ+ Allied Chamber of Commerce. The 6-0 vote aims to secure funding for the city’s major Pride celebration before a state law takes effect.

Senate Bill 1134, signed by Governor Ron DeSantis, is set to prohibit such spending after January 1, 2027. By approving the budget for the 2027 events now, officials intend to bypass the impending restrictions on funding Pride programming.
