Miami teen dies after shirt catches on playground slide screw
A 13-year-old boy, Olvin Daniel Cabrera Valladares, has died following a fatal accident at Shenandoah Park in Miami, Florida. The incident occurred on September 25 when the boy, who had traveled to the park on a scooter, became trapped inside a large enclosed tube slide.
According to his mother, Estefanía Valladares, the boy's shirt became caught on a protruding screw inside the slide, which resulted in him being strangled. A bystander discovered the boy and attempted to assist him before paramedics arrived. Although he was placed on life support, he was declared brain dead on October 1.
The City of Miami launched an investigation into the incident. While the park was briefly closed for a non-criminal investigation, it has since reopened. The family has launched a GoFundMe campaign to assist with funeral expenses, and local residents have called for comprehensive safety inspections of playground facilities.
