Miami Dolphins acquire quarterback Kyle McCord from Green Bay Packers

The Miami Dolphins have acquired quarterback Kyle McCord from the Green Bay Packers in exchange for a 2028 sixth-round draft pick. The move transitions McCord from the third quarterback on the Packers' depth chart to the primary backup for Malik Willis in Miami.

McCord noted that the trade occurred during a “wild 24 hours” after Green Bay expressed interest in keeping him. The transition to the Dolphins' offense has been aided by Malik Willis, who previously played in Green Bay and has been able to assist McCord with terminology and concepts.

The acquisition provides Miami with depth and insurance following the conclusion of the Tua Tagovailoa era. While Willis offers a mobile playing style, McCord serves as a more traditional pocket passer, offering the team different tactical options should the starter become unavailable.
