Malik Willis Miami Dolphins starting quarterback training camp contract

Quarterback Malik Willis is set to lead the Miami Dolphins in his first training camp as the team's presumptive starter. The Dolphins signed Willis to a three‑year, $67.5 million contract that includes $45 million guaranteed, after parting ways with former starter Tua Tagovailoa and taking on an NFL‑record $99 million dead‑cap hit.

Willis, who completed 79 % of his passes for 972 yards, six touchdowns and no interceptions in limited action, earned the confidence of head coach Jeff Hafley and general manager Jon‑Eric Sullivan—both of whom knew him from his time with the Green Bay Packers. The new quarterback has been working with receivers such as Tutu Atwell, Malik Washington, Jalen Reagor, Tahj Washington, Theo Wease Jr., Jalen Tolbert and rookies Caleb Douglas and Kevin Coleman Jr. to build chemistry ahead of the preseason.

If successful, Willis will become the 28th different starting quarterback for the Dolphins since Dan Marino’s last season in 1999.
