Miami Heat acquire Giannis Antetokounmpo in major offseason trade

The Miami Heat have significantly restructured their roster for the 2026-27 season following a major offseason trade for Giannis Antetokounmpo from the Milwaukee Bucks. To complement Antetokounmpo, the Heat have focused on acquiring perimeter shooting, adding players such as Klay Thompson, Simone Fontecchio, and Tim Hardaway Jr.

While the acquisition of Antetokounmpo positions the Heat as a major contender in the Eastern Conference, former NBA player Channing Frye has raised questions regarding the Greek star's physical dependency. Frye noted that unlike players such as Joel Embiid, Antetokounmpo's game relies heavily on his physical attributes like speed and power, which may limit his effectiveness if he faces injuries to his ankles, knees, or shoulders.
