Miami Heat explores backup trade options after Giannis pursuit stalls

The Miami Heat have intensified their off‑season trade agenda after a stalled pursuit of Giannis Antetokounmpo. Insider Ira Winderman said the team could pivot to veteran stars Kawhi Leonard and Ja Morant if the blockbuster deal does not materialise, noting both players carry injury risks but could be acquired at lower cost.

A separate proposal floated by NBA reporter Adam Taylor suggests the Heat could acquire elite perimeter defender Jalen Suggs from the Orlando Magic. The suggested deal would send Tyler Herro and a protected 2029 first‑round pick to Orlando, boosting Miami’s defensive versatility while giving the Magic a proven scorer and spacing guard.

Both scenarios reflect the Heat’s desire to improve a roster that has not won 50 games in a decade and has spent the past four seasons in the play‑in tournament.
