Miami Heat finalize roster and integrate new stars
The Miami Heat have finalized their roster for the 2026-27 NBA season, waiving four players: Ezra Ausar, Kylor Kelley, Gabe Madsen, and Bez Mbeng. These players were on Exhibit 10 contracts and will likely join the team’s G-League affiliate, the Sioux Falls Skyforce. The Heat currently hold 14 standard contracts and three two-way contracts.
On the court, the team is adjusting to the presence of superstar Giannis Antetokounmpo. Antetokounmpo has expressed growing comfort with his new teammates, noting that the team is working to provide him space to attack the paint. Teammates like Davion Mitchell have highlighted his ability to find open shooters through passing.
Meanwhile, veteran Klay Thompson is addressing criticism regarding a difficult preseason. Thompson struggled with shooting efficiency, recording just 15 percent from three-point range across four preseason games. Thompson stated he is not concerned, viewing the preseason as a “blank slate” to focus on conditioning and defense before the regular season begins. Head coach Erik Spoelstra expressed confidence in Thompson, noting that the team is successfully generating good looks for him.
