Miami Hurricanes defeat Stanford 45-6 in season opener

No. 7 Miami opened its 2026 season with a dominant 45-6 victory over Stanford at Stanford Stadium. The win was highlighted by a historic performance from quarterback Darian Mensah and wide receiver Malachi Toney.

In his debut for the Hurricanes, Mensah completed 27 of 30 passes for 401 yards and five touchdowns. Toney set a new school record for receiving yards in a single game, recording 234 yards on 12 receptions and scoring three touchdowns. Toney’s first-half performance, which included 182 yards and two scores, placed him among a select group of receivers since 2015 to achieve such statistics.

Stanford, led by quarterback Davis Warren, managed only six points despite a 63-yard drive early in the game. The Cardinal offense struggled to find the end zone, finishing with 214 passing yards but no touchdowns. The Hurricanes' victory marks their largest conference win since 2020 and establishes them as a significant contender in the ACC.
