Miami Hurricanes leverage depth following two blowout season openers

The No. 5 ranked Miami Hurricanes have opened their season with two dominant victories, defeating Stanford 45-6 and Florida A&M 77-7. The team is currently leading the nation in several statistical categories, including yards per game, yards per play, completion percentage, and first downs per game.

Offensively, the Hurricanes are focused on developing depth to avoid over-reliance on quarterback Darian Mensah and wide receiver Malachi Toney. Offensive coordinator Shannon Dawson noted the desire to spread the ball around, even as the team maintains an unusual ratio of 11 touchdown passes to only seven incompletions through two games.

Defensively, the team has adopted a ‘next man up’ mentality to navigate injuries within the secondary.
