Miami man arrested for impersonating ICE agent to extort business

Jonathan Cristian González Reyes, a 45-year-old Colombian citizen residing in Miami, has been arrested for allegedly impersonating an agent of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) to extort a local business owner.

According to investigations and surveillance footage from July 8, González Reyes targeted the owner of ‘El Líder Food Truck’ in Miami Gardens. The suspect reportedly used a badge, a firearm, and a vehicle equipped with blue lights and sirens to mimic law enforcement. He allegedly claimed to be a high-ranking ICE official with military experience to gain the trust of the victim, a Venezuelan legal permanent resident.

Authorities state that González Reyes attempted to solicit money in exchange for immigration protection and demanded free food. During one encounter, he reportedly brandished and loaded a handgun while threatening the victim. González Reyes faces multiple charges, including aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, impersonating an officer, and the illegal use of police identification and equipment.
